Box 21649
Denver, Colorado 80221
RE: Weng Pit - Our File 1174-15
Western Gregory Pit - Our File N82-34
Dear Mr. Graham:
Enclosed please find my inspection report for the Weng Pit. Thank you for
your time and cooperation during the inspection.
In response to your request for a partial bond release for Phases I & II
I offer the following suggestions:
1) That $21,700 of the original $30,000 reclamation cost for PhasE• I
be released. The remaining $8,300 to be held by the State for the reclamation
of the processing site and north pond perimeter. From the 1980 aerial photo-
graph this Zooks to be approximately 5-6 acres.
2) That $50,000 of the bond for Phase II be kept by the State to cover the
expense of reclaiming the non-pond disturbed area and to re topsoil and
revegetate the pond area.
The above suggestions would result in a reduction of the current bond of
$83,500 to $58,300. I think that my Phase I reclamation cost is fairly
accurate. However, my Phase II reclamation cost is based on a gross
estimate of the disturbed acreage shown on the 1980 aerial photograph.
If you have a more accurate disturbed acreage figure (including pond slopes)
please calculate current reclamation costs based on this acreage and submit
it to me prior to the May 26-27 Board meeting. This bond reduction r•=quest
is scheduled for the May Board meeting so please comment on the above prior
to Fiay 26-27.
Regarding your pending application for the Western Paving Gregory Pit. There
- are still a ferv items requiring clarification prior to the May Board meeting.
