MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-81-165
INSPECTION DATE 6-29-98
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS SSS
the stockpile is to remain for over 180 days. In the future, stockpiles will not be allowed
to remain on-site for over 180 days. Concessions for this one small pile will only be made
this one time, if covered and isolated from weathering ae described above.
Some of the stormwater controlE were in need of re-establishment after the recent barrage of
heavy equipment working the arses around the new tailings pond. The operator indicated that
those controls would be reconstructed immediately after the pond lining operation is
complete.
The Gaines Gulch channel appears to be stabilized. The operator has completed seeding of the
north side of gains gulch, across from the mill structure. The recent seeding was not
showing any signs of germination at the time of this inspection. The tailings pond outer
embankments, and the north slope above the pond, will need to be dressed up and revegetated
as soon as possible, to stabilize those areas. The operator will also need to clean up the
loose rock from the access road below the tailings pond.
Gaines Gulch was flowing approximately 30 gpm adjacent the 65 level adit and increases about
double when flows from the lower collapsed adit joins the flow. All flows appear clean and
clear.
A small area at the entrance to the 65 level adit had caved and partially closed the
entrance. There was an almost imperceptible seep from the adit which probably initiated at
a small spring that was surfacing on the slope above the adit.
The operator indicated that a iamall spring also emerged near the road in the center of the
permit area. This spring was also barely seeping through a drain pipe that the operator had
placed under the road. The operator is encouraged to obtain samples of any new springs
and/or seeps to document baseline, pre-operational (new mine and mill plan) water quality.
Results of any data should be submitted with the operator's annual report.
NAME E.
