The Office of Surface Mining
(OSM) and the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division (MLRD)
participated in the inspection to check the availability of records
and condition of the lower bench drainage. OSM deemed the MLRD's
response to the notice inappropriate ands thus conducted a
reinspection.
Most of the requested records were made availa:~le for review at the
mine. Such records included the Request for Transfer of Permit and
Succession of Operators, a Deed of Trust to Secure Reclamation Bond or
Bonds Future Advances, the reclamation bond document, the NPDES permit
and provision for permittee name change, :the OSM permit and the
Assignment of Federal Lease. A telephone conversation with Sylvia
McCormick, permittee, addressed the availability of the Federal lease
document, the latest water monitoring analyses, and the sedimentation
pond certification.. The status of these records is being checked and
will be the subject of a supplement to this report.
Repairs were completed on the berm at the top of the lower bench
outslooe. Vegetation in the undisturbeel area between the bench
outs lope and interceptor ditch (D2) shoul3 prevent erosion providing
the berm is maintained intact.
A new sign is to be erecte3 at the mine entrance on the county road to
reflect the new permittee information.
