III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE (continued)
West Flume Pond. Construction of this new pond was complete. Installation of the flume was
nearly complete. The spillway was seeded but the embankment and inslopes had not yet been
seeded.
Springs
Wapiti Spring and Cottonwood Spring were flowing in excess of 20 gpm of clear water.
EXPLOSIVES AND SUPPORT FACILITIES
No problems were found in any of the following areas: the explosives and anfo storage areas,
the boneyard (where barrels of oil and used oil are kept), the industrial yard, or office facilities.
TOPSOIL
All topsoil stockpiles were well-vegetated and did not appear eroded. Markers were in place.
The areas where topsoil has been stripped in advance of the D and A-South pits were checked
against what is shown in the permit application (Map M10B) and were found to be in
compliance.
ALLUVIAL VALLEY FLOORS
During the inspection Karl Koehler used an m-scope to measure the water levels and well total
depths in the Coy AVF well and in the monitoring well that is approximately 200 feet east of
there in the bottom of the Flume Gulch drainage. The measurements were made in connection
with Trapper's anticipated request to drop the AVF designation from Flume Gulch. The following
data were collected.
Coy AVF well Well in bottom of
drainage
Height of casing above
1 in.
3 ft
7 in.
ground .
Depth to water (measured 44.3 ft. 26.8 ft.
from top of casing)
Total depth of well
(measured from top of 54.2 ft. 42.8 ft.
casing)
SMALL AREA EXEMPTION
The silt fence on SAE 7 is functioning but still needs sediment cleaned from behind it, the fabric
needs to be reattached to the posts, and it needs to be extended where sediment could bypass
around it.
Page 6
