(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1978-170
INSPECTION DATE 11-20-2002 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS SSS
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection conducted as part of DMG s ongoing monitoring program for permitted mines in
Colorado.
The mine identification sign and affected area boundary markers are in place and in compliance with Rule 3.1.12.
No significant infestations of noxious or other problematic weeds were noted on site during this inspection.
The west side perimeter of Phase I has been graded to a slope of 3H:1 V or less as approved in the reclamation plan. Some
annual weeds were noted on portions of the slope. Delta County will need to keep an eye on this slope and other disturbed
areas of the site to catch any influx of weeds early on.
A large storage tank has been placed near the center of Phase I. It is unknown if the tank holds hazardous materials or not. If
so, Delta County will need to remove the tank or ensure that it is placed within approved spill containment facilities. An oil
application truck is apparently routinely stored on the boundary of Phase I and Phase II atthe head of a drainage. The area is
covered with oil stained soils. The oil is bound up in the soil and probably does not currendy pose a hazard to the hydrologic
balance. However, the truck, if stored in the permit area, must be stored within approved spill containment, preferably not
located at the head of a drainage.
There is an abundance of piles of what appears to be imported fill material and old asphalt near the center of Phase I and along
the base of the highwall. Because of the location of these piles, it does not appear that they are to be used as permanent fill on
site. If the material is slated to be used as permanent fill, Delta County will need to submit a notice of importation of fill as
required by rule 3.1.5(9).
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Steve Shuey at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand Junction
Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone number 970-243-6368.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Larrv Record
OPERATOR Delta County
STREET 501 Palmer Street, Suite 227
CITY/STATE/ZIP Delta, Colorado 81416
cc: Carl Mount -DMG Denver
^ CE
^ BL
^ FS
^ HW
^ HMWMD ICH)
^ SE
^ WOCD (CH)
^ OTHER
