Comments also describe any <br />enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or evidence <br />supporting the enforcement action, <br />A PARTIAL INSPECTION FOCIISINGON REVEGETATION WAS CONDIICTED BY DAN MATHEWS <br />AND TONY WALDRON OF THE DIVISION, JIILY 28-31, 1992. THE MOIINTAIN SHRIIB <br />REFERENCE AREA, ALONG WITH SEVERAL RECLAMATION PARCELS IN AREA 31 WERE <br />SAMPLED POR COVER, SPECIES COMPOSITION AND WOODY PLANT DENSITY. ADDITIONAL <br />AREAS WERE OBSERVED, AND EVALIIATED QDALITATIVELY, BDT NOT SAMPLED. THE <br />INSPECTORS WERE ASSISTED BY BOB POSTLE AND BARBARA BOWERMAN, OF THE OFFICE OF <br />SIIRFACE MINING, WESTERN SIIPPORT CENTER. TBE PIIRPOSE OF THE SAMPLING WAS TO <br />COMPLEMENT THE REVIEW OF AN ANTICIPATED BOND RELEASE REQIIEST, AND TO EVALIIATE <br />THE POTENTIAL OF INCREASED TRANSECT LENGTHS AND MORE INTENSIVE SAMPLE <br />STRATIFICATION WITH RESPECT TO REDDCING THE REQDIRED SAMPLE SIZE FOR WOODY <br />PLANT DENSITY ESTIIiATES. DATA SillH1ARIES AND NARRATIVE EVALIIATIONS FOR THE <br />INDIVIDIIAL SAMPLED AREAS ARE ATTACHED TO THIS REPORT. ^II"P4s*IZED SDMMARY <br />INFORMATION IS PRESENTED BELOW. <br />VEGETATION COVER <br />ONE COVER TRANSECT WAS RDN IN EACH OF 4 AREAS, WITH THE FOLLOWING RESIILTS: <br />AREA VEGETATION COVER <br />13.5 AC. THIS COMPARES FAVORABLY <br /> EASTSIDE TO TBE MODNTAIN SHRIIB REFERENCE <br /> AREA NEAN OF 62.1X. <br />REFER TO THE ATTACHMENTS FOR SPECIES COMPOSITION DATA AND DISCOSSION. <br />WOODY PLANT DENSITY <br />AN OVERALL WEIGHTED AVERAGE MEAN OF 848 STEliS PER ACRE WAS OBTAINED FOR THE <br />5 SANPLED AREAS, BDT THIS FIG[JRE IS ESSENTL9LLY MEANINGLESS, DIIE TO THE SMALL <br />NIIMBER OF SAMPLES IN EACH AREA. WHEN ALL SAMPLES FROM THE VARIOIIS AREAS ARE <br />LDMPED FOR STATISTICAL EVALDATION, A SAMPLE NEAN OF 774 STEMS PER ACRE IS <br />OBTAINED, BDT THE SAMPLE SIZE OF 13 IS STILL GROSSLY INSIIFFICIENT TO PROVIDE <br />AN ESTIIiATE WITH THE REQDIRED 90/90 LEVEL OF PRECISION AND CONFIDENCE <br />(NM = 265). <br />
