III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was an aerial inspection of the Hamilton Mine conducted by Harry Ranney of the DRMS.
Aerial photographs were taken on October 23, 2006 at approximately 10:42 A.M. Weather
conditions were clear and sunny at the time of the flight and ground conditions appeared to be
dry.
Mike Boulay of the DRMS reviewed the aerial photographs. Six photos were taken during the
flyover. No problems were noted in any of the aerial photographs.
Roads
Roads leading to Mining Area No. 1, Mining Area No. 3, and the sedimentation ponds were
visible in the photographs. Roads were dry and appeared to be in good condition.
Hvdrolo is Balance
Sedimentation Ponds A and B were viewed. Both ponds were dry. Pond embankments appear to
be stable and no problems were noted at any of these sediment pond locations.
Reclamation Success
A photograph of the mine site is shown in the attached photo at the end of this report. Most of
the mine areas are visible in the photograph. Vegetative cover still appears to be somewhat
sparse, particularly in the northeast portion of Mine Area #1. The surface of the site is stable
with no significant erosion features noted in any of the reclaimed areas of the mine site.
