III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was an aerial inspection flown by Harry Ranney of the Colorado Division of
Minerals and Geology. Fourteen (14) oblique aerial photographs were reviewed by
Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology in the office on
March 30. 2001. This former, contour strip operation is bond revoked. Inspection
frequency is quarterly, with one complete inspection each year. Patchy snow
remained in rills and low spots on the reclaimed area but ground visibility in the
photographs was generally excellent.
Hvdrolooic Balance
Sediment ponds 15-P20 and 15-P8 were clearly visible in photo 48-01-03-09-05.
Both ponds held a small pool of water. The emergency spillway of pond 15-P20
appeared in excellent condition. Ponds 15-P11 and 15-P12 also held small pools of
water. Pond 22-P10 along the road into section 22 was dry. Pond 22-P17 in the
western section of the site was also dry. Ponds 22-P5 and 22-P6 along the section
22 access road both appeared to be about one-half full of water. The ditch
directing runoff from north around the reclaimed area of former pond 15-P1 looked
to be in excellent condition.
Photo 48-01-03-09-05
3
