III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the
inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the Coal Ridge Mine conducted by Erica Crosby of DMG. No
company representative was present during the inspection. The Coal Ridge Mine is in
reclamation only status. The inspection involved viewing four aerial photographs taken by Harry
Ranney of DMG on January 27, 1998. Several feet of snow cover was noted on site.
Roads The road leading into the Coal Ridge Mine was under snow cover, and did not appear
passable.
Hvdrolooic Balance The mine ditches and sediment pond were under snow cover, but
appeared functional.
Backfilling & Grading The backfilled and graded area showed no signs of instability or erosion.
The bench terraces appear stable as well as the portal areas.
