•
NINE ID ~}` OR PROSPECTING ID
INSPECTION DATE 09/13/94
(Page 3) •
M-77-05'3
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS RCO
Due to the fact that there is groundwater exposed this will be brought to the attention of
the Colorado Division of Water Resources (address shown below). The operator should contact
that agency, explaining the occurrence of the water, its seasonality, and what ie being done
to drain the pit, toward resolving this problem. The operator will provide copies of all
correspondence with that agency, to this Division. The operator should possibly redesign
part of the operation to avoid the same problem in future years. This information is
regarded ae important to the permit file documents. Lack of information about this condition
and remedying it ie being treated as a problem, as shown on page 1, under the topics of
"records" and "hydrologic balance." See page 4 for the corrective actions and dates.
The 111 permit area is directly to the west of this area. Beyond that, there ie a lot of
land area available to the west where mining could be expanded. The operator stated the
interest in a future combining these permit areas, and including more area to the west, in
a conversion to a 112 permit. The operator also indicated that though eideslopes will be
completely reclaimed, there may be interest in leaving the pit floor unvegetated and used for
parking hie construction equipment, after the conclusion of mining. At present, the
reclamation plan specifies that the pit floor will be revegetated. This should be clarified
when conversion ie applied for.
There were no other problems noted at the time of the inspection.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Todd Stockebrand
OPERATOR Asphalt Constructors Inc
STREET PO Box 449
CITY/STATE/ZIP Alamosa CO 81101
cc:
Colo Division of Water Resources
1313 Sherman St Rm 818
Denver CO 80203
Sarah Johnson
Colo Dept of Health
Water Quality Control Div
4300 Cherry Creek Dr S
Denver CO 80222
cc: Jim Stevens/DMG
^ CE
^ BL
^ FS
^ HW
^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WQCD (CH)
^ OTHER
