(Page 2)

MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-96-031
INSPECTION DATE 06/12/97 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS TDG
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection of the new Weimer Pit No. 2. Operations are underway at the site with a small initial
excavation started at one end of the permitted area, small overburden and topsoil stockpiles, and a finished product stockpile at the
opposite corner of the affected area. The site was neat and clean with a mine identification sign and perimeter markers in place
where required. The access road to the site appears well constructed with gravel surfacing and stormwatercontrols (borrow ditches)
in place and functioning properly.
The operator pointed out the different thickness of in-place topsoil at different portions of the area to be mined. Topsoil is very thin
at the present location of the pit, however it is evident from observations of [he highwall that the thickness increases from West
to East and it appears there will be sufficient topsoil material at the conclusion of mining to replace a 6" layer as required by the
permit.
The financial warranty was increased for this operation in response to a technical revision request to remove the phasing restriction
from the mining & reclamation plan. Since the bond was recalculated in November, 1996 as a result of the technical revision, an
additional bond recalculation is not warranted at this time.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Lee Sutherland
OPERATOR Sutherland Brothers, Inc.
STREET P.O.
