__ i _ _
(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: _ M-1aRi-naa
INSPECTION DATE: i-~a-ni
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: _~_
The Division conducted a monitoring inspection of the site as part of the fiscal year 2000-2001 site
inspection plan. The site is a large 112 operation of 87 acres located approximately 6 miles South East of
Colorado Springs. The site was initially permitted as a 110 permit and converted into a 112 in 1990. The
present permit area covers approximately 92 acres. However, the five acres were pre- law disturbed areas,
which the operator did not want covered in the affected acreage, hence the affected acreage reflects what
the operator is liable for reclamation. Even though it is a bit confusing, since the MLRB approved the permit
as such, the Division will not make issue of it at this time. The maximum disturbance, which includes major,
moderate and minor disturbances, is 25 acres. Present during the inspection was Mr. Bob Solberg operator
and landowner. The site was active at the time of the inspection. Permit sign and boundary markers were
properly displayed. Afront-end loader and a small loader were working the active mining area at the time
of the inspection. Topsoil piles were properly stockpiled and protected, no problem noted. The reclaimed
slopes appeared stable with the exception of a small portion of the West Side slopes showing signs of
erosion, which the operator stated that it would be addressed sometime in spring. The entire permit area
was driven and inspected, no major problem noted. The existing warranty of #35,000 was found to be
adequate at this time. However, if the present approved affected acreage is changed, operator has to notify
the Division so the warranty can be raised appropriately. Mr Solberg wanted to know how to substitute the
existing warranty with another one because the company has been converted into a new LLC. He was
informed that it might be necessary to have the new company succeed the operation and submit the
warranty under the new company name. He was informed to contact Suzi Ericksen of our Division so she
can send him the appropriate forms. He agreed to do, as advised, once they are ready to submit the new
warranty.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: BOB SOLBERG
OPERATOR: SOLBERG SOLBERG & FRENCH
STREET: 13335 STO[KMAN CT.
CITY/STATE/ZIP: PEYTONrf_O Rnt3~i
JAMES STEVENS
cc: ^ CE
^ BL
^ FS
^ HW
^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WQCD (CH)
^ OTHER
