- The two ponds at the loadout were dry at the time of the inspection. The pond <br />embankments were well vegetated and in good condition and showed no signs of <br />erosional problems. <br />Backfilling and Grading: -The backfilled facilities areas remain stable. No cracking or <br />settling has been observed in the backfilled areas. There were no erosional problems <br />observed on these areas. <br />Processing Waste: The recently covered portions of the refuse pile remain stable. <br />There were no signs of erosion on the newly reclaimed slopes of the pile and very <br />little sediment was deposited in the 100-year ditch around the refuse pile or at the <br />inlet to Pond 4. <br />Fish and Wildlife: A large herd of elk was grazing in the area just south of (below) the <br />haul road to the refuse pile and on the northern portion of the reclaimed Newlin <br />Creek Mine. <br />Revegetation/Reclamation Success: George Patterson indicated that he had <br />scheduled the contractor for the final seeding of the site for the end of October. <br />
