This inspection was conducted as part of the Division of Minerals and Geology's four-year monitoring
program. Present at the inspection were Kate Pickford, DMG, and Greg Gerganoff, Alpine Rock
Company. Weather at the time of the inspection was clear, calm, and approximately 45 degrees.
2. This site consists of 144 acres located southwest of Fairplay. The operation crushes historic stockpiles of
dredge material to be marketed as gravel. A sign is posted at the mine entrance. Crushing equipment
is located onsite. An above ground storage fank used for fuel is located in the processing area. The
tank is surrounded by a berm, but no liner is installed beneath the tank (See problem 1, Page 3.
3. There were no evident boundary markers of the site along most of the permit boundary. Mr. Gerganoff
was uncertain as to where the boundaries are located (See problem 2, Page 3).
4. A surety increase for the site was approved on April 19, 2001. The bond was increased to $120,080.00 at
that time. Based on a partial bond calculation conducted as a part of this inspection, the current bond
amount appears adequate for reclamation of the site.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Grea Geraanoff
OPERATOR: Alpine Rock Company
STREET: 14R09 W. 44~h Ava_
CITY/STATE/ZIP: GnlrlPn.
