III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during the inspection. Comments also
describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
On April 22, 1999, William J. Carter along with Joe Dudash from the Division of Minerals and Geology, pedormed a partial inspection of
the Hawk's Nest Mine. The weather was cloudy and cool at the time of this inspection.
Roads:
The Old State Highway 133 appears to be in relatively good condition at this time.
Hvdroloeic Balance:
• At the time of this inspection water was not running across Old State Highway 133 from either the east or west springs
located at the east portal. This condition appears to he caused by a reduction of discharge from these springs.
• The sedimentation pond contained a small amount of water.
Reveeetation•
• New vegetation is germinating at this time and the existing perennial plants are greening up.
• The coal is still the dominant feature a[ the south east part of the site.
