III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the
inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
On March 1, 1994, a complete inspection was conducted at the permanently
reclaimed Bourg Strip Mine. The weather at the time of the inspection was
sunny and there was a slight thaw but no surface run off. Snowfall during the
past week had closed the access road to the mine and the county road was
unplowed.
The mine site probably has its heaviest snow pack for the season. There are
no ponds on site. The permanent gully was snow covered. This gully is
actually a drainage that was established where there was no drainage before
mining. This drainage is well vegetated and erosionally stable. It is not
expected to have any problems this year with snowmelt.
