III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a complete inspection of the Hamilton Mine conducted on Mazch 08, 2007 by Mike <br />Boulay of the DRMS. There was no representative from Honeywood Coal Company present <br />during the inspection. Weather conditions were cloudy and cool. Ground conditions were very <br />wet from precipitation prior to the inspection. There was no activity at the mine site during the <br />inspection. <br />Availability of Records <br />Dave Andrews, Honeywood Coal Company's contractor was not present but brought the records <br />to the mine site from his home in Norwood and left them at the landfill of;'ice located neaz the <br />mine site for inspection. All required records were available for review. Please see the attached <br />records checklist at the end of this inspection report. <br />Roads <br />Roads were maintained but in poor condition due to recent heavy rainfall. Access was limited to <br />Mining Area No. I and Pond A. Road surfaces were very muddy and difficult to drive on. <br />Culverts and road ditches were clear of sediment and debris and functioning as intended. <br />Hydrologic Balance <br />Sedimentation Pond A was inspected. Pond B was not inspected due to poor road conditions. <br />Pond A was dry. The pond inlet and the dischazge structure were in good condition and the <br />embankment was well vegetated and stable. <br />
