Doug Bachli and Gregg Feinauer were present
during the inspection.
The Rocky Road Quarry is located approximately 4 miles west of Loveland in Larimer County,
Colorado. A permit was issued on February 3, 1986 for a permit area of 106.5 acres. The
Division currently holds a reclamation bond in the amount of $57,200.00.
Mining was actively taking place in area AL-06. The operator is taking down the upper
sandstone layer rather than mining multiple layers all at once. Such procedure generates
less waste and does not leave an existing highwall. The waste that is generated goes to a
grizzly for screening. The screened material is used as topsoil or designated for rip-rap
material. The operator should be commended for this mining method because waste piles are
limited, and the mined product is used to the full extent.
The operator commits to mining no more than 25 acres at any given time. According to the
2006 annual report, approximately 13.25 aces are currently affected. The area is divided
into 6 mining areas. The current disturbed acreages are ae follows;
AL-1 0.50 acres
AL-2 2.95 acres
AL-3 0.16 acres
AL-4 1.27 acres
AL-5 0.35 acres
AL-6 8.02 acres
Approximately 1 acre has been reclaimed to date, and the area has been released. very little
waste is generated on site, therefore, the $57,000.00 reclamation bond is adequate at this
time.
I & B Contact Address
^ CE
NAME Doug Bachli ^ BL
OPERATOR Rocky Road Investments ^ FS
STREET PO Box 63 ^ HW
CITY/STATE/ZIP Masonville, Colorado 80541 ^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WQCD (CH)
Cc: Carl Mount; DBMS
