III. Comments/Compliance
This was a complete inspection conducted by Jim Burnell of CDMG on the afternoon of
Tuesday, April 12, 2005. This site was quiet and deserted.
At the East Mine, the south-facing slopes were dry. Some new grass growth was emerging,
but the area had been heavily grazed by elk. There was no sign yet of the whitetop that
usually occurs on the upper (north) side of the slope, near the road.
There was no evidence of erosion at the bottom of the slope. A berm remains along much
of the length of the slope between the reclaimed area and the river. That berm remains in
tact and has not been breeched, so there is no evidence of any sediment reaching the river
from the site.
The slump above the road had been seeping and has settled into the ditch. The ditches
contained some water. There was a large pile of soil material that had been removed from
the ditches sitting in the lower reclaimed area.
The slope at the middle mine was stable with no erosion, both above and below the road.
The west mine showed excellent vegetative cover, especially with rabbitbrush. The pond
embankments were stable and the pond bottom was wet.
