III. Comments/Compliance
This was a partial inspection conducted by Jim Burnell of CDMG on the morning of Friday,
November 16, 2001. The site was quiet and deserted. The weather was mild and sunny.
Vegetation is sparse on the East mine, where the area between the old Highway 133 and the
river was treated this past year. There was ample evidence of recent heavy rain, but there
was no erosion of the amended area and no offsite impact at the bank of the river at the East
mine where there is a small berm that remains intact.
The road ditches at the East mine were wet, but contained no standing water. There had
been no recent movement on the slumps from the cut slope above the road. These slumps
were seeping very small amounts of water.
There was no sign of instability or erosion on the middle mine.
On the road between the middle mine and the west mine, there was a good bit of sediment
washed onto the road from the heavy recent rain. It's not clear if that sediment came from
the mine or from private land above the road.
The west mine has dense vegetation. There was no standing water in the pond and the
pond appeared stable. There was no off-site impact on the west mine.
