111. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations <br />made during the inspection. Comments in Section IV describe any enforcement actions <br />taken during the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />Page 1/1 North Thompson Creek C-81-025 <br />5 May 2004 ~ <br />This was a complete inspection of the North Thompson Creek Mine conducted by Jim Stark of <br />CDMG. The weather was warm and sunny and the ground was dry. <br />Availability of records: All of the necessary records were available at the Garfield County <br />Courthouse in Glenwood Springs. See the records checklist at the end of this inspection for more <br />details. <br />Signs and Markers: The mine ID signs were posted and in good condition at both parts of the loadout <br />and the mine site. <br />Roads: The haul road and the road to the developed water resource were stable and in good condition <br />at the time of the inspection. The access road to the flume sites was in good condition and stable. <br />Hydrologic Balance: -The developed water resource area was in good condition at the time of the <br />inspection. Both portals were discharging, as was the final (NPDES) discharge point. All of the <br />treatment ponds were well vegetated and stable and appeared to be operating properly. <br />- The remaining sediment pond (stock pond) was dry at the time of the inspection. The pond <br />embankment was well vegetated and stable at the time of the inspection. No erosional problems were <br />noted on the embankment. <br />Support Facilities: The loadout area east of the county road was well vegetated and in overall good <br />condition. <br />RevegetationBeclamation Success: The flume areas by the developed water resource were well <br />vegetated and stable at the time of the inspection. <br />
