~`• • (Page 2) <br />MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-78-210 <br />INSPECTION DATE 8 7 95 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS AP <br />O~9ERVATI0NS <br />The Division conducted a brief monitoring i~ection of the Geieert Pit on 8/7/95. The site <br />ie adjacent to the county complex on the north aide of Greeley; it ie just west of 11th Ave. <br />and north of the Poudre River, at an approximate elevation of 4650, in the South Half of <br />Section 31, Township 6 North, Range 65 Weet, 6th P.M. The pit ie operated by Weld County; <br />present during the inspection were Don Carroll and Greg Nelson of the County and Andy Moore <br />of the Division. <br />The site was permitted as a 112 operation on November 13, 1978, with a total of 87.547 acres. <br />The site has had two amendments approved: one on 12/14/88, adding 55 acres; and one on <br />2/22/94, changing the relative sizes of two of the proposed ponds. The operation ie adjacent <br />to the Cache la Poudre River; it is a wet pit. The excavating process involves pumping, then <br />pushing up material with dozers and scrapers. While we were there, a bulldozer waa pushing <br />up material in a slot in the bottom of one of the pits. There are both product and topsoil <br />stockpiles on the site. <br />The site will eventually be part of a recreation corridor along the Poudre River. There will <br />be three pond areas.
