(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: nA_1977_479
INSPECTION DATE: lnm~/ns INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: .~J-1eL
OBSERVATIONS
This was a normal monitoring inspection conducted by Tony Waldron of DMG along with Jason Frieberger of
Baca County. The site is located approximately 2 miles northwest of Walsh, Colorado. The pit is situated in an
upland area immediately north of and adjacent to Bear Creek and within a portion of Bear Creek along the
south side.
There was a mine identification sign present at the entrance to the mine site and the affected area was clearly
delineated. This site was converted from a 1 1 Oc into a 1 12c in 2001. This area is owned by the county and had
been historically mined prior to the initial permitting in 1977. When the conversion occurred, the entire 80 acre
parcel was added into the permit area. Unfortunately, if there were any pre-law areas, they were not clearly
demarcated on the new maps at that time. Much of this mined area was backfilled to roughly 3H:1 V slopes
along the north side and adjacent to County Road FF. It may also have been seeded, however, it appears
that establishment was spotty and it will probably need to be inter-seeded or re-seeded as necessary. There is
amore recently mined area along the northwest portion of the permit area that appears to be pretty well
mined out. The mining plan states that disturbed areas will be limited to no more than 10 acres at any time and
reclamation will occur concurrently once that size has been reached. Once mining is completed in any
section of the pit it should be reclaimed as contemporaneously as possible to ensure successful reclamation
and maintain this 10 acre limit.
No problems were observed and this concluded the inspection.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Spike Ausmus
OPERATOR: Raca Cnunt^
STREET: 741 Mnin StrPat
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Sprinnfielri_ r'C) R107R
cc: r CE
r BL
r FS
r HW
r HMWMD NCH)
r sE
r wacD ~cH)
r OTHER
