III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during <br />the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the <br />Facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was an aerial inspection of the New Horizon Mine for the month of May, 2001. The purpose of this <br />inspection Is to conduct normal operations and environmental compliance. <br />ROADS: All roads appear to be in excellent condition. The detour is functioning as designed. <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE: Mine 1' Ponds 1 and 6 had water in them but only 1 appeared to be <br />discharging as normal. ali other ponds were dry. All ditches and culverts seem to be functioning as <br />designed Mlne 2' Pond 7 has water in it and Pond 8 is almost complete. <br />BACKFILL & GRADING: B & G was in progress as is normal. No problems were noted. <br />TOPSOIL: Topsoiling is ~n progress and appears to be going well. An onsite inspection will be <br />perfonYied rn June to field verity the topsoil depths.. <br />GENERAL MINE COMPLIANCE The CC Ditch replacement HDPE is in place and appears to be <br />functioning as designed. <br />
