III. COMMENTS-COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was an aerial inspection of the Yoast Mine conducted by Harry Ranney of the DMG. Aerial <br />photographs were taken on November 21, 2006. Weather conditions were overcast and windy at <br />the time of the flight. The site was partially snow covered. Thirteen photos were taken during <br />the flyover. Mike Boulay of the DMG reviewed the aerial photographs. <br />Roads <br />The light-use road accessing the North Pit and Haul Road B were visible in the photos. These <br />roads were partially snow covered, and appeazed wet and muddy. There did not appear to be any <br />activity at the mine site and from the photos it was unclear if the roads were accessible. <br />Hydroloeic Balance <br />Sedimentation Ponds Ol IA, 012, 013, and 014 were visible in the photographs. The surface of <br />the ponds were partially frozen. Pond 014 appeazed to be entirely frozen over. Pond inlets and <br />embankments were partially covered in snow but appeazed stable with no problems noted. The <br />slide above Pond 012 appeazs to remain active with some visible cracking noted in the slide <br />damaged azea above the pond in several of the photographs. No other problems were noted at <br />any of the sediment pond locations. <br />Reclamation Success <br />No significant erosion features were noted in the photographs in any of the reclaimed azeas of the <br />mine site. <br />
