A site inspection was made of the Art's Fertilizer Pit as part of the Division's on-going
4-year inspection program. There was no one present during the inspection.
2. Art's Pit is permitted for a total of 38.4 acres. The operator has posted a financial
warranty of $7,500. The post-mining land use is general agriculture.
3. The pit appeared to be active at the time of inspection. There was a major disturbance
of approximately 1/4 acre which consisted of an excavation into the hillside. The
surrounding area was graded to a slope of 3:1 or less. According to the annual reports filed
by the operator, there has been up to 8 acres of previous disturbance. Apparently, most of
this area has been at least partially reclaimed by backfilling and grading to final contours.
The financial warranty is adequate to complete the reclamation plan for the current
disturbance.
4. Signs and markers were posted as required by Rule 3.1.12.
I & E Contact Address
^ CE
NAME Arthur H.
