• (Page 2)

MIt3E ID ik OR PROSPECTING ID # M-BO-052
INSPECTION DATE 11/04/99 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS ESC
OBSERVATIONS
This was an inspection of the Holsinger Gravel Pit conducted by Erica Crosby of the Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology. Fern and Keith Holsinger were present during the
inspection.
The Holsinger Gravel Pit is located 3 miles southeast of Walden on Colorado State Highway 14.
A Mining and Reclamation Permit was issued to Fern & Keith Holsinger on April 23, 1980 for
a permit area of 9.9 acres. The Division holds a bond in the amount of $10,500.00.
No mining was taking place during the inspection. The bulk of the disturbance is within Phase
I, or the western half of the permit area. The operator has mined up to the south edge of
Phase I. The pit limit is 200 feet from the house owned by Skip Russell and the western edge
of the pit is 100 feet from State Highway 14. Some of the processing and stockpiling
activities are located in Phase II. Topsoil from Phase I is stockpiled at the northwest
corner of the permit area. Several piles are located on the pit floor. The operator uses
this material throughout the year.
The Division inspected the area where lime material was buried in 1993. Lime flakes were
noted on the surface, surrounded by vegetation. It was also stated by the operator that the
contaminated soil was removed from A & S Construction in the fall of 1994.
A mine identification sign and permit boundary markers were noted on site.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Keith Holsinger
OPERATOR Fern & Keith Holsinger
STREET P.O.
