The Kerr Coal Company is requesting a phase I bond release for two areas known
as the 720 Pit and Pit No. 1. The Division had deemed the application for bond
release complete on April 25, 1994. The two areas contain Federal, State And
private land.
On May 12, 1994 a bond release inspection was conducted at the Kerr Coal
Company, Marr Strip Mine. The operator is requesting a phase I bond release for
the 720 Pit and Pit No. 1 areas. The weather during this inspection was clear and
warm. The operator said that several weeks ago there was a 1' snowfall, however
during the inspection the ground was dry. The inspection commenced at 10:00 a.m.

This bond release inspection was conducted pursuant to Rule 3.03.2 to evaluate the
reclamation work completed in accordance with the approved permit and with the
rules of the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology. The Division considered
among other things, the results of inspections and monitoring conducted pursuant to
4.05.13 and 5.02, the degree of difficulty to complete any remaining reclamation, and
