• (Page 21
MINE ID q OR PROSPECTING ID N
INSPECTION DATE 7/29197
M$0-778
OBSERVATIONS

INSPECTOR'S INITIALS WHE
This partial inspection of the Moores Pit was conducted by Wally Erickson from the DMG Durango
office. Mr. Moores accompanied the DMG inspector throughout the inspection. The Moores Pit
permit is approved for 9.96 acres. DMG holds 55,000 financial warranty. Status of mining
operations appeared active.
Signs & Markers -Mine identification sign was posted near the mine entrance and displayed the
necessary information. Affected area perimeter markers were intact. Public access is controlled
by locked gate.
Pit Area -Mine access road was well maintained. Various stockpiles of material, overburden and
topsoil were located within the permit area. Stockpile of road base material was located off the
permit area. Operator stated that offsite stockpile was not for sale, but was for surfacing private
roads located on his land. Land parcels containing private roads to be surfaced with offsite
stockpile material were contiguous with lands containing permit area. The Moores are the
landowners of the permit area and the lands surrounding the permit area. Truck scales were
located near the mine access road, off the permit area. Operator stated that truck scales were
primarily utilized for weighing cattle shipments.
Mining related equipment located within the permit area included mobile crusher, mobile conveyor
belts, front end loader and dozer. Fuel storage tank, approximately 300 gallon capacity, was
located within the pit. Spill containment berm was not evident for the fuel tank, however, pit
grading was sufficient to ensure containment of fuel spill. Fuel storage tank was intact, no
evidence of rupture, leakage or spill. Disturbed area drainage reports to sump within pit, no
evidence of significant erosion/sedimentation to the affected areas or to the surrounding areas was
observed.
Disturbed area was visually estimated at 4 acres with approximately 1 of the 4 acres partially
reclaimed. Site appeared stable and well managed.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Jean Moores
OPERATOR Moores Mining, Ranchino & Mill
STREET 32907 Hiuhwav 141
CITY/STATE/ZIP Gateway, CO 81522
cc: Tom Gillis, DMG
^ CE
^ BL
^ FS
^ HW
^ HMWMD (CHI
^ SE
^ WOCD (CHI
^ OTHER
