(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1984-039
INSPECTION DATE 7/13/05
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS RCO
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was performed by the Division as part of its monitoring of Hard Rock and Metals 110(2) permits. The operator
was contacted about the inspection, but was not present during the inspection. There has been no mining or reclamation
activity at the site in recent years, and the site was inactive at the time of the inspection.
The required permit ID sign was posted near the main cut on the vein. A single permit corner markerwas found near the small,
dump north of the open cut, but other markers were not observed. The operator has placed permit markers numerous times
but it is most likely that "visitors" to this location have removed them. The site is accessible bycounty-maintained roads. Since
posting and maintaining permit boundary markers is a requirement, it would be useful to employ a durable method of marking
the boundary. This is not a problem at this time, but it should be considered and addressed this season.
There is a minor stream crossing on the access road, which includes a culvert. The culvert was open and not washing out, but
the fill over the culvert was sloughing a little though not enough to impede passage by vehicle. Maintaining the fill necessary to
allow passage (a wide enough roadway surface) might be easier if the culvert were about 5 feet longer. For now this is not a
problem.
The site does not appear to have changed much from the 1995 photos in the file, or the 2000 annual report photos. Annual
reports describe small levels of activity, but onsite disturbance has not increased. There are 3 small waste dumps near 3 small
piles of what appears to be topsoil. The soil is well vegetated, and is presumed to be placed there for respreading during
reclamation.
There is a lower pad or parking area to the north, which receives runoff from portions of the permit area but it is bermed
adequately to contain runoff from the current disturbance. This is a hilltop site, so the operator is cautioned to always be aware
of the need to contain stormwater runoff, sediment, or other materials that may be on the site.
The large open cut on the vein is still open. Besides the cut, the dumps and the onsite roads, there is not much other
disturbance. There is no stockpiled ore or other mineralized material left loose onsite. There was no equipment, no debris,
and no contaminants. The bond amount has not been reviewed in several years. It will be recculated soon, and the figures
sent to the operator.
No further items were observed during the inspection. Responses to this inspection report should be directed to the Division of
Minerals and Geology, 701 Camino del Rio, Room 125, Durango, Colorado 81301, Attn: Bob Oswald; phone no.970-247-5193.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Wilber F.
