(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1978-357
INSPECTION DATE 01/13/03
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GRM
This inspection was preformed as part of the normal monitoring program established by the Colorado Division of Minerals and
Geology. The Bradbury Pit is located south of the Kannah Creek, on the west side of Highway 50, 11 and''/z miles from Grand
Junction, Colorado. Operators representative Ed Settle accompanied the inspector.
The mine identification sign and affected area boundary markers are in place and in compliance with Rule 3.1.12. The sign is
located at the main entrance on the west side of the permitted area. The permitted area is day lighted at the top of a mesa on
the north and east. The southern boundary is swell-established road. Mining is progressing to the west, which is delineated by
a fence.
Several stockpiles of various materials were noted on site. No equipment was observed on site at this time. The mining
appears to be following the approved plans.
No hazardous or other toxic materials were noted as being stored on site.
Topsoil /overburden has been pushed back along the western portion of the permit. The amount appears to be enough
establish 3H: 1 V slopes along the current exposed mining face. The estimated amount will be calculated and used as part of a
review of the current bond. Portions of the pit previously mined by Mesa County appear to lack sufficient topsoil. However, the
undisturbed portions of this area reveal very little to no topsoil to begin with. Slopes along the southern edge appear to be 3H:
1V or better. No revegetation efforts have been undertaken at this time.
No significant erosional features were noted on the affected areas of the site. All storm water appears to be being retained
within the permitted area.
The Financial Warranty was last updated with the conversion to a 112c permit in 1998. The 2002 Annual Report map reflects
current condfions and will be used to review and update costs. The operator can expect the updated bond review within the
next 30 days.
No other issues were noted at this time.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Russ Means at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand Junction
Field Office, 101 South 3rtl Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone no. 970-241-1117.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Ed Settle
OPERATOR Grand Junction Pioe & Supply
STREET P.O.
