III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of CDMG. The Rimrock Mine
consists of approximately seven acres of reclamation. The 2002 growing season will be
the ninth year following reseeding.
Hydrologic Balance
The mine site received about 2 inches of snow the previous night. In areas of full
sunlight most of the snow had melted by the time the inspection was conducted. The
sediment pond was dry, indicating snowmelt likely infiltrated or evaporated.
Revegetation
Small grasses are beginning to sprout due to warming soil conditions and recent soil
moisture. Some biennial weed rosettes were also observed.
Slides and Damage
The repaired area from the chimney collapse over abandoned mine workings shows no sign of
additional collapse.
Overall, the site appeared in good condition for the early spring season.
3
