III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during
the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the
facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Tom Kaldenbach of the Colorado Division of Minerals and
Geology. Ross Gubka represented the operator. The ground was wet in places. With the operator's
consent, this report was issued from the Denver offce.
Sins and Markers
Mine i.d. signs and blasting warning signs were properly displayed at two entrances to the mine.
Hydrolo¢ic Balance
The Division is reviewing TR-52 for proposed new pond 012. During the inspection we visited the site
of the proposed new pond. The site is on an alluvial terrace next to Tuttle Draw. There is no
development near the pond. Failure of a pond at this location would possibly result in erosion next to
Tuttle Draw, but would not likely be a safety hazard or cause significant environmental damage.
I measured conductivity at outfall 007 which was dischazging less than 200 gpm to Calamity Draw.
Part of the discharge from this outfall is water pumped from the pit. I also measured conductivity in
Calamity Draw both upstream and downstream from 007. All three measurements were approximately
2600 umhos/cm, indicating the discharge was not causing excessive salt loading in this stream.
