r <br />III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the <br />inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a complete inspection of the Twin Pines No. 2 Mine conducted by Erica Crosby of <br />DMG. The Twin Pines Mine is a bond forfeiture site, therefore, no company representative was <br />present during the inspection. Weather conditions on site were clear and warm. Ground <br />conditions were dry. <br />Roads Roads leading to the mine site and office area were dry and in good repair. Road ditches <br />appeared functional. <br />Hydrologic Balance The sediment pond located at the Tipple/Office Area contained water, but <br />was below the primary spillway. No evidence of recent discharge was noted. The <br />concrete/rock structure in the drainage adjacent to the Tipple/Office Area was in good repair. <br />Recent flow was apparent in this drainage. The silt fence at the Office area is full, and should <br />be cleaned in the near future. <br />The sediment pond located at the mine area was dry, and no evidence of recent discharge was <br />noted. No erosion features were noted on the reclaimed slopes. Some of the silt fence has <br />been knocked down if a few locations. <br />Backfillirig & Grading The backfilled slopes at the Tipple/Office Area and the Mine area showed <br />no signs of stability or erosion problems. <br />Processing Waste The refuse pile showed no signs of stability or erosion problems. The <br />diversion ditch is in good repair and no problems were noted. <br />Veoetation Vegetation at the Tipple/Office Area and Mine area was mainly covered with annual <br />grasses. The cover on site appears typical for the 1st year vegetative growth. <br />
