If you submitted plans to the Dept. of Health we need a copy of the
construction specifications. In the past, the Division of Minerals and Geology required that the operators
construct a containment facility large enough to contain all of the chemical/fuel liquids plus a 33%
freeboard. The spill prevention structure needed to have a compacted clay liner or a 40-60 mil
geomembrane. The policy is changing here at the DMG. Apparently, the SPCC guidlines are going to be
accepted by the Division so, therefore, you will only have to deal with one government agency.
So, if you have construction drawings for the bermed area, you need to send a copy to the DMG.
-----Original Message-----
From: Mike Ausburn [mailto:pscrocks@earthlink.net]
Sent: Monday, July 19, 2004 10:20 AM
To: jdl@dmg-xl.state.co.us
Subject: Ranch Land Rack Pit #2
James
We received a copy of your inspection at the above mentioned pit. In your comments you said that
you need a copy of the approved construction drawings for the above ground fuel tank. I'm unaware
of what to do from here, we have always had above ground tanks with a containment berm around
fuel tank for our remote pit's.The fuel that we dispense is for our own use.
Please advise of what you need or should I use a portable tank ?
Thank You.
Mike Ausburn
Pioneer Sand Co Inc
719-599-8100
Fax 719-599-7509
7/27/2004
