For purposes of clarification Mesa County off rs the
following:
As management of water is key in geotechnical stability, Mesa County is a icipating a
Grading and Drainage Plan as part of the Geotechnical stability recommen tions. Noted
during the field inspection, a general low area along the top of the stock pit appears to
collect water as evidenced by the accumulation of fine grained material, ap arently the
water resides a sufficient amount of time to allow the deposition of the fine grained
material. This condition, if allowed to remain, could be a source for subsu ace water that
could jeopardize long-term stability.
2. The path for water leaving the site and crossing Colorado Highway 141 wa~unclear
during the field inspection. Mesa County is anticipating the recommended ading and
Drainage Plan will clarify conveyance of water from the site to East Creek.
3. Mesa County agrees the high wall should not be further disturbed with the xception of
removing unstable material from the high wall. The rock-trapping earthen erms are
strongly recommended as noted in the inspection report. Mesa County and rstood the
final reclamation configuration will include reshaping of the entrance to gra es close to
15% slopes from the base of the rock-trapping berms to the Colorado High ay right-of-
way. The final slope will be determined by using available material from ar and the site
and not using material from the stockpile area. This shaping and revegetati n will include
reclamation of the road leading into the area as well.
