• {page 2) • <br />MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-78-009 <br />INSPECTION DATE February 21, 1997 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS TAS <br />1. A site inspection was made of the Apache 9 Clay Pit in order to check compliance with the <br />mining & reclamation plan as well as the Rules & Regulations for the Extraction of <br />Construction Materials. The site was covered with several inches of snow. Therefore, a more <br />comprehensive inspection will be made later this year during more favorable weather <br />conditions. <br />2. The Apache 9 Clay Pit, located 4 miles west of the town of Calhan, is permitted for 1364 <br />acres with a financial warranty of $48,000 in the form of a Corporate Surety. The post- <br />mining land use is rangeland. <br />3. There was evidence of active clay extraction at the site. According to the 1995 Annual <br />Report, there was 58.5 acres affected of which 27.0 acres were in various stages of <br />reclamation. The active disturbance is located within most of the Stage lA area as well as <br />the southwest corner of the Stage 3 area. Portions of the Stage 2A area appeared to be in <br />various stages of reclamation, All disturbances noted during the inspection were well within <br />the permit boundary and are in compliance with the mining plan. <br />4. An entrance sign was noted along Soapweed Road. The permit boundary markers were not <br />identified, some of which appear to be either County Roads or fence lines. <br />5. There was evidence of stockpiled topsoil. <br />6.
