Rip-rap still needed to be installed on the
corner and at inlets and outlets of the culvert. There is only a 3' 1 3/4"
drop in the 300' between the intersection of the two drainages and the
culvert, or a 1% grade. This diversion has a shallow gradient and high
potential for deposition.
Mr. Gomez had trenched through the Magpie Creek diversion embankment to
install a 48', 30" culvert. This culvert was a little shorter than required
but careful grading and the installation of rock energy dissapators on the
inlet and outlet should prove satisfactory. The embankment slope on the
outlet was 20%. Discussions were had on compaction around the culvert.
Culvert installation had proceeded nicely and was well on its way.
