III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was an aerial inspection of the Yoast Mine conducted by Harry Ranney of the DMG. Aerial <br />photographs were taken on November 8, 2000. The aerial photos were reviewed by Mike <br />Boulay of the DMG. Weather conditions were cleaz at the time of the flight. The majority of the <br />mine site was snow covered. Roads were partially snowpacked, but appeared to be well <br />maintained. The dragline was operating in the south extension area, southeast of Pond O12. <br />Hvdroloeic Balance <br />Ponds 010 and O1 l were not visible in the photographs. Pond 012 was holding water at a level <br />below the primary spillway. The surface of the pond appeazed to be partially frozen. <br />Slides and Damaee <br />The site of the landslide that occurred below a portion of Haul Road D, immediately above Pond <br />012 was viewed. The majority of the slide area was snow covered. No additional movement or <br />damage was noted from review of the aerial photographs. <br />
