i..

'MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-80-183
INSPECTION DATE Mav 26, 2000
(Page 2)
OBSERVATIONS
1. A site inspection was made of the Brannan Pit No
reclamation bond and discuss the operator's plans
inspection were Fred Marvel of Brannan Sand & Gravel,

INSPECTOR'S INITIALS TAS
. 29 to evaluate the adequacy of the
for dewatering. Present during the
and Tom Hatton of JR Engineering.
2. The reclamation cost for the Brannan Pit No. 29 was last evaluated by the Division on
January 15, 1998. A total cost of $413,400 was calculated based on reclamation of the
existing disturbance in the Parcel B Area (partially reclaimed) and projected maximum
disturbance in the Parcel A Area (mining had just begun). Since then, the operator has
posted the required warranty in the amount of $413,400. Since no additional reclamation work
has been done in the Parcel B Area since the last site inspection, the Division finds that
the reclamation cost and warranty amount of $413,300 to still be adequate.
3. The operator is currently approved for "wet mining" methods and has an approved temporary
substitute supply plan from the Office of the State Engineer to account for evaporative loss
of groundwater exposed after December 31, 1980. During the inspection, a discussion was held
with Mr. Marvel and Mr. Hatton regarding DMG and other State permitting requirements to
accomodate dewatering and dry mining at the Brannan Pit No. 29. It is likely that the
operator will need to secure an NPDES water discharge permit from the Colorado Water Quality
Control Division, and a well permit from the Office of the State Engineer.
I & E Contact Address
~ CE
NAME Fred J.
