(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1992-100
INSPECTION DATE 11-20-2002
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS SSS
This inspection was conducted as part of The Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) monitoring program for permitted mines
in Colorado.
The mine identification sign and affected area boundary markers are in place and in compliance with Rule 3.1.12.
No significant infestations of noxious or other problematic weeds were noted on site during this inspection. The infestation of
toadflax noted in previous inspections appears to be under control.
No significant erosional features were noted on the affected areas of the site.
The operator indicated that no excavation occurred at the site in the past two years. Mining is planned for the upcoming
season. The river appears to have recharged the gravel deposit in the permit area, though it has taken more than one year due
to low spring runoff rates the past couple of years. The river banks in the vicinity of the pit appear to be stabile, with natural
vegetation becoming well established. Riparian vegetation is becoming established on pit floor in the high water areas of the
river channel.
The site currently has some stockpiled dirt material that was imported to be screened. The fines are then returned to the site of
origin for use as pond liner material. Oversize boulders are being stockpiled off the permit area for sale as part of the
construction business the operator runs. Stockpiles of previously processed gravel are almost gone.
The reclamation cost estimate was updated and the current financial warranty was determined to be adequate to cover the
reclamation liability at this site.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Steve Shuey at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand Junction
Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone number 970-243368.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Patricia Farnsworth
OPERATOR River Bottom Gravel Corporation
STREET 1494 Hiahwav 133
CITY/STATE/ZIP Paonia.
