•
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-83-142
INSPECTION DATE 04/29/98
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS RCO
This inspection was performed by the Division as part of its monitoring of construction
material 112 permits. The operator was contacted about the inspection and was present
throughout the inspection.
The permit ID sign was posted on the entrance gate at 32 Road. The permit area was
adequately marked by fencelines. Operations have not affected the full permitted area, and
the disturbance is near the permit boundaries only on the south and east sides, which are
clearly marked there.
The site has a levelled bench at the the southeast corner, which is currently being used to
stockpile product from the adjacent Ford Pit (permit no. M-97-091). The Ford Pit is accessed
by the paved road in this permit area and then through this pit. The two pits adjoin on the
same grade. There is no mining currently being carried out. The presentl disturbed area may
only change slightly, given no boundary change in the future. The other separate area of
possible mining here will not be mined, according to the operator. That area would be the
butte in the central portion of the permit.
There are no highwalls to reclaim. There is a small amount of mining-related debris at the
NW corner of the bench. Cost to remove it is minimal, but will be included in a future
reclamation cost estimate.
Stormwater controls observed include berms around the perimeter of the SE bench, and grassed
drainage path on both sides of the paved access road. There is no significant erosion at the
site.
The western end of the access road contains a scale and scale house. They will be removed
after mining is finished, but the asphalt road may remain. The bond is 517,000, and appears
to be adequate at this time. The bond will be recalculated soon and the figures sent to the
operator for review. Concurrent reclamation and cleanup can influence the bond amount, so
the operator is encouraged to perform such tasks whenever possible, and fully report them to
this office.
There were no problems observed at this time.
