III. COMMENTS-COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Tom Kaldenbach and David Berry of the Colorado Division
of Minerals and Geology. No one else was present during the inspection. The site was covered with
approximately one foot of melting snow. Both entrance gates on County Road 53 were locked.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE
Sedimentation Ponds
Ice was partially melted from both ponds.
Pond HG-8 was discharging an estimated 75 gpm of clear water. The pond's inslopes and
embankment appeared stable.
Pond 003 was discharging an estimated 20 gpm of clear water and its inslopes and embankment
appeared stable.
Numerous rebar stakes remain in the channel just below the outfall (culverts) of pond 003. These
stakes should be removed once field conditions permit. An old sign and power pole laying behind the
west side entrance gate also need to be removed.
Springs and Seeps
Estimated flow from RSP-3 was less than 5 gpm of clear water.
The flow from the natural seep approximately 250 feet west of pond 003 was flowing at least 5 gpm.
-3-
