~~ • (Page 2) •
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-77-193
INSPECTION DATE December 27, 1996 ZNSPECTOF'S INITIALS TAS
1. A site monitoring inspection was made to evaluate the volume of non-roadaY~le miscellaneous
mine equipment that will removed during final reclamation and the progress of the stormwater
drainage controls.
2. This inspector estimated a volume of 25 flat bed trailer loads of miscellaneous, non-
roadable mine equipment on site that will be removed during final reclamation to achieve a
post-mining land use of rangeland. Removal of this equipment will be includa~d in the current
amendment application reclamation cost. Mr. Klco is welcome to provide supF~orting data such
as the salvage value of the equipment which can be used to offset the reclamation cost.
3. The cost to remove the trailer and scale was not estimated.
4. Pond 1 has been partially constructed at the west end of the processing yard. There was
no definitive inlet or outlet spillway constructed and there was no inlet ditch. The
diversion ditch which runs the periphery of the processing area, to the north, and then down
a steep decline to the east was not yet constructed, nor were the 3 large containment ponds
numbered 5. 6. and 7.
4. Pond 2 has been constructed with a temporary spillway composed of large boulders, but does
not contain a properly constructed spillway as shown on the proposed desig.zs.
5. Pond 3 has been constructed with an adequate spillway. The sizing on Pond 3 was not
verified; however, it appeared that pond 3 could be considerably larger.
6. Pond 4 has not been constructed.
This inspector measured approximately 2450 linear feet of diversion ditch to be constructed
between pond 1 and pond 5, approximatley 4560 linear feet of collection ditcY~ to be installed
along the current haul road and various side entries in order to collect and control the
velocity of runoff waters, and approximately 450 linear feet of either culverts, cross
drains, water bars, or other structures installed to route flows into and out of the
collection ponds.
7. This inspector also noticed the south outslope of the mine bench/processing area was long
and oversteepened. Althouth this bench will eventually be reduced in height by approximately
75 feet during the next phase of mining, the Division will evaluate the outslope on future
inspections for signs of rilling or gullying which indicate instability.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Edward J.
