(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-~ Q~~-S~n
INSPECTION DATE: ~-'~-n~ INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: -JD-
OBSERVATIONS
Completed an inspection of this site as part of a Mined Land Reclamation Board directive to Inspect every mine
in the state at least once every four years. The operation was last Inspected on March 19, 1999.
This is a 190-acre Regular 112 permit located on the east side of Rocky Ford.
Currently, mining is progressing from west to east. The pit is being dry mined (groundwater is pumped to a
settling pond and allowed to percolate back Into the aquifer). Pit walls are near vertical. The excavated
material is processed on-site. Reject material is placed back into the excavated areas.
A canal delineates the north boundary of the permit. The pit is set back about 50 feet (minimum) from the canal.
Mine ID signs have been posted around the outer edges of the permit boundary. The permit boundary is
adequately delineated.
Salicedar has begun to flourish along the banks of the pit and in some of the un-mined portions of the central
part of the permit. The noxious weed must be eradicated before it becomes a severe problem. This is noted as o
problem on page 3 of this report. The operator must initiate a weed control program within 60-days. The site will
be re-inspected in September or October fo see how well the control program is working.
It has been nearly 5 years since the financial warranty requirement has been calculated so the cost of
reclaiming the site will be re-evaluated in the next couple of weeks.
Dld not observe any obvious problems, except as noted, at the operation.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Mr. Wavne Adams
OPERATOR: Valco.lnc.
STREET: P n Rox 550
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Rocky Fnrrl. rn.
