Diversions: Specifications were not in hand when diversions
where checked. The condition of the diversions were stable with
the majority having heavy vegetation.
Impoundments: The general construction of impoundment A
conformed with the as-built drawing. A small impoundment on the
east side of the mine area was once identified as impoundment B.
There are no designs for this structure and it is not now nor is
it planned to be used in the future. MLRD will require the
operator to either reclaim the structure or submit designs and
certifications.
Siltation structures: See above.
Discharge structures: Impoundment A is~the only structure on the
mine at this time which is designed to discharge. There was a
minute amount of water in the east cell.
Surface water: Surface water monitoring is no longer being done
for this operation.
Ground water: Three of the ground water monitoring wells on the
east side of the mine could not be found. The other 5 wells
checked were found to be satisfactorily sealed to prevent
contamination. Not all wells were locked. Well OW8 is described
in the permit as having the casing broken off at ground level.
This is one of the wells which could not be located during the
inspection. MLRD will have a company rep locate the weY1s during
the next inspection so their condition can be checked. If well
OW8 is still broken it will be repaired. If its condition has
allowed surface water to enter, enforcement action will be taken.
Discharges: None at the time of inspection.
Protected stream channels: None
HAUL/ACCESS ROADS:
