Cover was estimated for Transect 1, using the procedures described for
the Mountain Shrub Reference Area. Woody plant density was estimated by
counting woody plants rooted in 2 meter wide belt quadrants running the length
of each transect.
Data Summary
(Reference any tables, diagrams or maps attached)
Attachment 1 - Transect Locations
Attachment 2 - Cover Summary
Attachment 3 - Woody Plant Density Summary
Narrative Evaluation of Compliance
This parcel is characterized by high cover and production, dominated by a native
bunchgrass, basin wildrye (Elymus cinereus>, and several introduced grasses,
including orchard grass (Dactylic glomerata), timothy (Phleum pratense),
Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis>, intermediate wheatgrass (Agropyron
intermedium) and smooth brome (Bromus inermis). Most of these species were
components of the pre-disturbance mountain shrub and aspen vegetation types.
Cover is fairly evenly distributed among the major species and the parcel would,
individually meet the species diversity standard which requires that a minimum
of 4 species make up 64% of the relative cover, with no single species exceeding
40% relative cover. Bare ground was only 1.8%, and no erosion was evident.
Woody plant density was estimated to be only 133 stems per acre, primarily
snowberry (Symphoricarpos oreophilus) and big sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata).
* A separate tracking sheet should be filled out for each area and compliance
topic evaluated.
** If applicable
DTM/ern 4538E
