WEED MANAGEMENT PLAN u ~ ~~ ~~ ~ ~ ~ y
~~Ol! 2 ~ Z~]9
Site Location Division of Minerals and Geology;
The Blair Mesa property is approximately 40 acres in size and is located in Rio Blanco County.
Objective
To control undesirable plants on the property, a Weed Management Plan is proposed. The
Division of Minerals and Geology identified the presence of Halogeton glorneraars on the
subject property.
Halogeton builds its root system during the cool weather and topgrows during warmer weather.
Depending on the moisture, seedlings establish from February through August, with a peak in
April. Seedlings begin rapid vegetation growth in May. Growth continues through June. Plants
Flower during July and August. Seeds begin to mature late August to early September and are
mature in October.
Controls
The property will be evaluated before April each year to determine the extent of the halogeton
seed crop. One or more of the following methods will be employed:
A. Mechanical Control -Mowing can occur throughout the growing season in order to
keep [he plants from going to seed. Mowing should be terminated in late August.
B. Cultural Control -Introducing perennials, such as immigrant kochia, to successfully
decrease the halogeton cover.
C. Chemical Control -Halogeton is susceptible in the pre-flowering stage to 2,4-D at 2
pounds active ingredients per acre. Spraying should occur between February and
June.
Contact Information
Lafarge Corporation
Attn: Julie Goettemoeller
P.O.
