COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection, The comments include discussion of observations made <br />dunng the mspeC6on Comments also describe any enforcement acGOns taken dunng the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action <br />This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of Minerals <br />and Geology l0ivision) This former mountaintop removal operation is now reclaimed and <br />has achieved a Phase I bond release for most areas. Temperatures on this day were hot <br />and ground conditions were generally dry. <br />~drologic Balance <br />Sediment buildup at the outlet of the <br />road culvert above the east downdram <br />to Fill 8 should be cleaned out as soon <br />as possible This culvert. shown at left <br />wilt become blocked at the outlet of <br />more material is deposited at the culvert <br />outlet. The road drainage entering via <br />the rock downdrain at the outlet may <br />also exacerbate the situation Also. the <br />inlet to the second culvert along the Jeff <br />Canyon haul road has a buildup of <br />sediment at the culvert inlet that requires <br />maintenance. <br />Numerous recent rainstorms have hit the area. This moisture was badly needed, although <br />the apparent intense storms have resulted in erosion and sedimentation in various areas. <br />Ponds 7. 8. 9. 9a, and 10 held murky water but none were discharging Any rain ~n the near <br />future may cause these ponds to discharge. The sediment marker in pond 9 should be reset <br />when water level allows <br />
