The <br />mine silo is roolainted. The permit and bond 6avo been revoked. The gate at Roan comfy tad No. 27 was <br />loclaed. Mr. Phr7 Geoeges of Croaa Mountain Retch provided the oombisation ro tl-e lode ro allow for DMG <br />at~ws. A reproamtativa of Cross Mountain Renck wet oncwntared at the cbsa of the inspection. This <br />individual was checlrmg on catde grazing on the mine site and aumarndmg area. Wealhar was clear and warm. <br />The mine was dry at tite lima of the inspection. <br />Tha Division has ro-issued the rognest far bide far maintmanca work on the silo. Cbsing date for receipt of bids <br />is August 31, 1999. Tha Division expects ro have maintmmca work conducted this fall with consultation with <br />the ]mdowner. <br />Sigos: The Division has erected a sign at dte jmction of access road to pits 2/3 and pile 5 dr 6. This sign <br />provides public information regardmg the Division's mmagemant of the revoked sits and address and telephone <br />number of the Division for coatsct purposes. Ona more sign will be erected along 16a roadway to pit 4. <br />Roads: Access road to pit 4 has had heavy cattle use. Gully on inside road switchback has not enlarged. Hill <br />slope on South side of road continues to slough onto road. Natural springs along road continua to produce wallet <br />and water is directed across the roadway via the rock waterbats. Road remains accessbk all the way to Pit 4 and <br />Pond 4. Access road to pits 2 8! 3 remain in tan• condition. Natural spring continues to drain across road but <br />rutting remains minimal. Access road to pit 1 is inaccessible vie vehicle. This road Las not been requested by ibe <br />landowner !b provide vehicle access to pit 1. Access to pit 1 by foot and animal (cattle or sheep) is still <br />fonctional. Access road to pits 5 and 6 remains in good wnd;don. <br />Hydrologic Balance: Pond 4 is dry. Repay work is planned for this pond this fall. The breach in the ditch nor <br />of pond 4 does notappaar in bays enlarged. R~pair>b this ditch is planned as wall. Livestock 6sa hamp(ed dite6 <br />at pit 5 6ia1 drains the spo8 spring to pond 5. Riprap oftliis ditch Las held up quite well. Pond 5 contains water <br />and was discharging clear effluent at the t®e of the inspection. <br />Slides: The landslide downslope of pond 4 does not appear to Gave enlarged. A small slope failure was noted on <br />the west side of the access road to pits 5 li*. 6. This slide originates in undisturbed ground and does not appear to <br />be mining related. <br />Vegetation: Mine site was very dry. Cattle were observed at pit 4 at the time of the inspection. Vegetation cover <br />is low and grazing is evident. Height of dominant Bromegrass is approx. 4~ inches tall. In pit 4 Fescue appear <br />te be seloetively grazed. <br />Reclamation Success: Maintenance items planned for Fall are restricted to minor repairs to pond 4 and access <br />roads. In spite of low vegetative cover, rill and gully formation was not apparent. Few weed patches <br />encountered. Weed species drat were encountered appear Invited tb Houndstongue, Canada thistle and Musk <br />thistle. Weed patches are not extensive and are of limited extent.
